GIFTS (Group Intervention for Therapeutic Support)

What is it?

GIFTS offers specialist group  and one to one support for children, young people and their families who have been affected by death of a parent, relative, friend or other significant person.

Child Action North West’S GIFTS group is facilitated by qualified, experienced therapeutic staff who support groups of up to eight children and young people.  These groups provide an opportunity for children and young people to express their emotions and to voice their fears and concerns through letter writing, creating memory jars and boxes, balloon releasing and creating an emotional first aid kit.

Who is it for?

Referrals for support are submitted by schools, health professionals and social care, for children and young people age 7-18 years – bereavement having taken place six months prior to the referral.
