Congratulations to our re:fresh Volunteers

< Back to News

From over 300 nominations, 63 individuals and community groups were shortlisted and invited to attend the awards presentation on Monday 10 June at King Georges Hall.  re:fresh Volunteers won the Health and Wellbeing group category in recognition of their dedication and hard work supporting residents to get active and make positive lifestyle changes.

The team of volunteers who were nominated are all Physical Activity Leaders, who are responsible for delivering a group exercise session. There are 20 volunteers who form part of this team and they deliver a variety of sessions including: chair based exercise, walking, dance and aerobics, water walking & walking netball. The weekly sessions help to engage people of all abilities, from being new to exercise, recovering from an injury or fall, returning to exercise after a long spell or being a regular keen attendee, the volunteers make the sessions enjoyable.

The group of volunteers are all dedicated volunteers and have delivered weekly sessions throughout the year, in which there have been over 7500 attendances. This would not have happened without the volunteers giving their time to deliver the sessions and helping to engage more people in regular physical activity.
